FAQ
- How much smaller will the file get?
- It depends on the content. Scans and presentations with photos lose 50-90% of their size, text documents 5-20%. If there is nothing to compress, you get the original file unchanged.
- Will the text stay as text?
- Yes. Images and fonts are compressed, but the text is not turned into an image: you can still select, copy and search it.
- Why is the first run slower?
- On the first compression the browser downloads a 16 MB processing module. After that it is taken from the cache, and compression takes 2-5 seconds.
- Is it free and without registration?
- Yes. No accounts, no limits on the number of files and no watermarks on the result. There is one limit: browser memory; on a regular laptop that means files up to 200-300 MB.
- Where does my file go?
- Nowhere. The page loads a processing module into the browser, and from then on it runs on your device. The file is not sent to a server; nobody sees it or stores it. You can turn off the internet after opening the page and the tool will keep working.
